Architecture

Our Allee leads to the Guild’s Spanish architecture designed by renowned architect Gardner Dailey. Working closely with Pedro de Lemos, they designed red roof tiles, archways, courtyards and wrought iron work of the Spanish colonial style. Many of the wrought iron pieces and details are still in use and visible in the buildings today.

After a two-year renovation by Cody Anderson Wasney Architects Inc. of Palo Alto and Blach Construction of Santa Clara, the Guild was reopened in 2004. The renovation focused on the architectural and historic relevance of the complex and received the American Institute of Architects Santa Clara Valley Chapter 2006 Honor Award for Preservation/Restoration as well as the California Preservation Foundation 2006 Preservation Design Award.
